SYSCO was in the process of building a new warehouse distribution center and needed a mechanical contracting company to design and build new plumbing and air conditioning systems that would keep the facility ventilated at all times in the most cost efficient manner.

Solution

As a design-build project, Comfort Systems USA (South Central) worked with SYSCO & Big D Construction to develop designs for the plumbing and air conditioning systems. Because SYSCO uses battery powered forklifts that give off sulfuric acids fumes, the designs required Comfort Systems USA to install special air-conditioning systems with rooftop units and strategically position exhaust fans in the Battery Maintenance area to keep fresh air moving in that area of the facility at all times. With the final plans in place, Comfort Systems USA (South Central) was able to estimate the cost of the project and provide a cost-effective price for the client.

Conclusion

Even with the project’s special nature, Comfort Systems USA (South Central) was able to adapt and adjust plans and designs to accommodate the client’s ever changing needs and meet the Spring 2010 deadline while staying within budget. Big D Construction has plans to continue this partnership with Comfort Systems USA on projects in the future because of their performance, skill level, and dependability.
